Circle of Sites (CoS) is a revolutionary approach to coordinated marketing in the Southern independent bookstore market. The program allows publishers to place a banner ad simultaneously on over 50 independent bookstore websites across the South, thus offering region-wide exposure. Circle of Sites banners carry special links that allow the browser to purchase the promoted book from the store site they are on when clicked, and bookstores are encouraged to promote and stock CoS titles in store. Circle of Sites banners are promoted as "Lady Banks' Pick of the Week" to the consumer market, and stores are strongly encouraged to have an in-store display of the books being advertised.

SIBA's Circle of Sites Banner Program important caveat:

These banner ads carry a special pre-programmed hyperlink that will take the browser to the bookstore site's shopping cart to purchase the book (if the store has ecommerce) or to some other specially designated page (if they don't). We can't link to publisher or author websites, but we do provide the option to purchase the book on clicking if we can.  The advertised books in this program are designated Lady Banks' Pick of the Week and are twittered and facebooked to our thousands of friends and followers.

Over 50 bookstores are currently participating in the Circle of Sites program and running the banner, including such high-profile stores as Avid Bookshop in Athens, GA, Malaprops in Asheville, NC, Flyleaf Bookstore in Chapel Hill, NC, and Octavia Books in New Orleans, LA.

The banner spots are sold by the week and receive exclusive placement, with reservations being taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are only 52 spots available for the entire year.

Ads run for one week from Tuesday midnight to Monday midnight on the collective circle of sites.  An ad is not considered booked until it is paid for and the ad is received by  Participating stores will be notified of the ad's content in advance of its publication on the Circle of Sites so they can confirm their own stock levels.

Now all banners are programmed to link to the hosting website's shopping cart to purchase the book.
