Independent Bookstore Day Updates A quick update to let you know that Independent Bookstore Day is still scheduled for Saturday, August 29. Our website has downloadable logos with the new date on them and images for all the 2020 exclusives. Bookstore parties are likely going to look different this year. But this can still be a huge, nationwide celebration of indie bookstores, readers, and authors. And it can still be a big sales day for you! We will provide you with
a list of socially distant in-store and virtual party ideas soon. We will also schedule a couple virtual events that you can publicize to your customers. Please also feel free to start planning virtual and in-store events of your
own for August 29.

Combine Aladdin and Jasmine with the Hunger Games and mix in West African folklore and you have this gorgeous, fast-paced YA fantasy. World-building is fabulous, especially as more of the sultana's family legend is revealed.
Malik is my favorite character because Ms. Brown does an amazing job combining his anxiety with his magic, as well as making him an adoring brother to his two sisters. At times he read younger to me, but I think that's due
to his traumatic past. My favorite part of Karina's character is her musical talent in playing her late father's oud. To me, it was when her true personality shined brightest.

An adorable story of a boy searching for his mother in the frigid city of Hodorf. Otto joins ranks with the Tattercoats, a group of children who live on the streets and sleep by chimneys. There's a reason Hodorf never sees the
warmer seasons. Otto and Nim find out why when they discover the magical and mysterious underbelly of the city. Magical and filled with wonder.
