We are working hard to create a fun and innovative program that will be both engaging and useful. All events will take place via Zoom and some will be recorded or prerecorded. Links will be posted in the schedule as they are confirmed.
Only registered attendees will be able to access the events.
Registration grants access to all NVNR Events, so publishers and exhibitors need to register if they wish to attend. It is the equivalent of creating your show badge. Registration is also strictly limited to members of SIBA and NAIBA.
If your membership is not current, you will be contacted to renew your membership before you can attend the events.
Registration will also add you to the New Voices New Rooms newsletter list, which is the primary way that we will keep you informed about the show.
Your registration grants you access to the entire show. The schedule is still in its nascent stage, but as events are confirmed all attendees will receive first notice. You will also receive the "Show Box" of review copies and other
goodies prior to the event.
All exhibitors and advertising is being processed through NAIBA and can be purchased here: Publisher Sponsorships and Exhibit Reservations (note that purchasing exhibit space
does not register you for the event. You still need to register at the link above to be able to attend events).
Editors

indie booksellers to know about; it’s also a perfect time to begin or deepen relationships with the editors behind the books! Please rsvp lindamarie@sibaweb.com to attend.

Reader Meet Writer Next Week
Marian Keyes & Silas House!
After a short break, Reader Meet Writer, SIBA's virtual author tour program for member booksellers, comes back stronger than ever in July! We've made a few bookseller-friendly changes:
Events are on Tuesday afternoons (start times between 3-5 PM EDT) and Thursdays at 7 PM EDT.
Bookseller resources, including Zoom links for rsvp-ing attendees, are available a month in advance. You must login to sibaweb.com to access.
No more weekly emails with zoom links and templates for your emails. We trust you to use the assets and resources provided in RMW Bookseller Resources as works best for your customers. Still need reminders? Let
me know; we'll work it out!
Wiley Cash, our Conroy Legacy Award recipient, award-winning author, and indie bookseller advocate, takes over as host. We have a FANTASTIC slate of authors scheduled for the summer,
presenting books in genres and on subjects near and dear to our hearts.
Are you interested in joining the circle of bookstores sending invites to their customers? Please email Linda-Marie and we'll discuss what's involved.
The July Schedule:
Tuesday, July 7 at 3 PM EDT: Marian Keyes will discuss Grown Ups.
Thursday, July 9 at 7 PM EDT: Silas House will discuss Clay's Quilt, A Parchment of Leaves, and The Coal Tattoo.
The downside to our ever-increasingly-connected lives is that it can be hard to keep up with all the ways customers communicate with our businesses. Tweets, messaging, email voicemail, social media posts, smoke signals... every communication
is an opportunity, and every communication we don't respond to is an opportunity missed.
In last week's "THIS!" session Angela Trigg from The Haunted Bookshop demonstrated how she uses the ManyChat application to both track and respond to customer communications across a variety of platforms, so that she never
leaves a query unanswered.
July's Lady Banks Bookshelf
SIBA promotes six new books every month to readers, the customers of our member stores, in our Lady Banks Bookshelf promotion. These titles appear at the top of our weekly Lady Banks Commonplace Book newsletter, which has a circulation
of over 60k. We also feature them above the fold on the homepage of Authors 'Round the South and as the cover image of the ARTS facebook page, with buy links promoted to our 15,000 Facebook friends. Plus, we boost these
titles on our Facebook page for thousands more views. A different member store is featured with the titles every week.

Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

On Edelweiss
Dark and fantastical, Mexican Gothic is intoxicating and alluring, and I am completely obsessed. The heroine of our tale, Noemi, travels to visit her cousin who has sent her troubling letters from the home she now shares
with her new husband's family. The characters that flood forth and weave a tale of familial horror and deviousness spew a bile so fragrant and delicious that I eventually had to pull myself up for air while reading. Please
do yourself a favor and read this piece by Silvia Moreno-Garcia!
Nine Shiny Objects by Brian Castleberry
June, 2020 Reviewed by Karyn Cumming, Fountain Bookstore, Richmond, VA On Edelweiss
Brian Castleberry is both a phenomenal professor and author! Nine Shiny Objects is a puzzle readers will enjoy piecing together with each turn of the page. Through the ten vignettes, Castleberry maintains distinct voices
for each character’s perspective. Many details are not explicitly given, but the hope and trauma that comes in the wake of the Seekers is evident. Their impact on America becomes clear as the years progress, as does the fact
this impact is not far from the Seekers’ initial vision. Virtuous ends do not always require ethical means. Castleberry has crafted a story that is sure to provoke laughs and thought within our current society.
Rescuing Mrs. Birdley by Aaron Reynolds, Emma Reynolds
June, 2020 Reviewed by Sami Thomason, Square Books, Oxford, MS On Edelweiss
A funny and frenetic tale of one amateur animal rescuer who KNOWS that her teacher belongs in her natural habitat...the classroom. Luckily, Miranda has been waiting for this moment her whole life, much to the surprise of her unwitting
teacher. Colorful and fantastical illustrations accompany this laugh-out-loud delight.

LOVED this. A perfect summer read with smarts and heart. And I loved reading in the author's note at the end that the characters were based on her own family!
