Holiday Catalog Update

For stores that have placed orders for the Holiday Catalog, RAMP sends along this update:

Winter catalog invoices have not yet been sent so the payment due date of 8/21 is no longer in effect. The goal is to begin sending invoices within the next week and payment terms will be net/30.

For stores that ordered imprinted catalogs, someone will be in touch in the next 2-3 weeks to go over the imprint details and (ultimately) supply a proof. This part of the catalog production process is just beginning.

Lady Banks Bookshelf in September

SIBA promotes six new books every month to readers, the customers of our member stores, in our Lady Banks Bookshelf promotion. These titles appear at the top of our weekly Lady Banks Commonplace Book newsletter, which has a circulation of over 60k. We also feature them above the fold on the homepage of Authors 'Round the South and as the cover image of the ARTS Facebook page, with buy links promoted to our 15,000 Facebook friends. Plus, we boost these titles on our Facebook page for thousands more views. A different member store is featured with the titles every week. We give SIBA member stores a heads up on each month's featured titles, to encourage in-store and online displays.

For publishers looking to promote their new titles out to readers across the South, Lady Banks Bookshelf is our greatest value because of high visibility and engagement across multiple platforms. Contact us for more information or to get your titles on "The Shelf" in coming months.

A Room Called EarthAmerican Royals II: Majesty by Katharine McGee
September, 2020

I've been looking forward to this read ever since I finished AMERICAN ROYALS. While it threw every single bit of shipping that I had done in the first book into a fire, I absolutely loved this sequel novel. It's a perfect novel of quiet strength, loud mistakes, and self-discovery, and it's definitely not one you want to miss!

I love this book! An adorably spooky, laugh-out-loud graphic novel that will warm even the coldest of undead hearts.

Pine Island HomeOut of Mesopotamia by Salar Abdoh
September, 2020

Reviewed by Stuart McCommon, Novel, Memphis, TN
On Edelweiss | Buy

Out of Mesopotamia is a novel that reveals the war in Iraq from the viewpoint of a middle-aged Iranian journalist on the front lines in the fight against the Islamic State. Saleh, the narrator, spends most of his time between firefights in Iraq & Syria as he learns intimate details about the men he follows... their family history, their dreams, and their quest for martyrdom (as well as their wish to avoid it, in some cases). When he returns from war, Saleh is disillusioned with civilian life in Tehran as he continually has to answer to a state-controlled handler that forces him to ghost-write a TV program that glorifies patriotism, but doesn’t reveal any true aspects of the conflict. So, he returns to the front lines where he feels his life has some semblance of meaning. This novel is perfect for readers of military history and foreign affairs as it pertains to the Middle-East. Reminiscent of Tim O’Brien and Hemingway, Abdoh highlights experiences in a modern war that are not usually explored by typical journalists.

A Thousand Glass FlowersEat a Peach by David Chang
September, 2020

Reviewed by Chelsea Stringfield, Parnassus Books, Nashville, NTNC
On Edelweiss | Buy

I picked this up because I enjoyed Chang's philosophy about food. I kept reading because of his unflinching discussion of mental illness. Accessible and easy to read, EAT A PEACH is about running a business, building a team, and being honest to yourself about yourself.
