Banned Books Week Resources
Banned Book Week is this week, September 27-October 3
Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Banned Books Week was launched in 1982 to highlight the value of free and open access to information. During this week, the entire book community is invited to
support the freedom to seek and to express ideas by promoting silenced voices using resources provided by the Banned Books Week coalition.
ALA’s “Get Involved” resources: The resources include a Stand for the Banned read-out, a Dear Banned Author letter-writing campaign, actions
for each day of Banned Books Week, and more.
Banned Books Week Coalition resources: Check out the Banned Books Week Coalition’s resources which cover print and digital resources, event resources,
reporting censorship, and more.

IMPORTANT UPDATE! Reader Meet Writer upgrades event format
Out of an abundance of caution and in response to feedback from the book industry, SIBA is upgrading its Reader Meet Writer series from the more open discussion "Zoom meeting" format to the more presentation-oriented "webinar"
format. Existing meeting links will not change.
This week on Lady Banks Pick of the Week:
Read more about SIBA's Circle of Sites Program (aka the "banner for dues" program) and find out whether your store is eligible to participate and
